Alberta Athletic Award
Established in 1984, the Alberta Athletic Award is funded by the Government of Alberta. The purpose of the award is to recognize and reward athletic excellence at universities, colleges and technical institutes in Alberta. To be eligible, a student must:
• participate on a sport team designated by the Alberta College Athletic Conference (ACAC) or the Alberta University Athletic Association (AUAC).
• be a Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident or Protected Person (visa students are not eligible).
• be an Alberta resident.
• be enrolled in at least 60% of a full course load, as defined by the institution, in the Fall and/or Winter term (term = study period of up to 17 weeks in length).
• maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale.
Students enrolled in full-time studies in both the Fall and Winter terms are eligible for a total of $1,800 per academic year or $900 per term. Students in the first year of their program will not be eligible during the Fall term, as they must complete at least one term (to establish the GPA requirement). However, they can receive $1800 in the Winter term, if they established a minimum GPA of 2.0 at the end of the Fall term.
This award requires the completion of a paper application, available from Rustlers coaches at the beginning of each term
