Universal Consulting Group

As an alumni of Lakeland College, Vermillion from the drafting and design program in 1980, Paul Richer continued in the design and construction management business throughout his working life.

This career led to the formation of Universal Consulting Group (UCG) in 1984 and after a few years another alumni Erin Rommel, who with three other long-term employees purchased the company in June of 2022.

Paul has volunteered and been a part of the community throughout the years and has always been supportive of young people interested in the design business. Creating the bursary in 2001 was a good way to support students and Lakeland College.

Believing that scholarships and bursaries tended to be on the merit of academic achievement, it was established that the design educators choose a candidate that rose and achieved through adversity as the primary reason for award.

Erin and her three partners; Kevin Jacques, Shari Klenk and Kim Procyshen share Paul’s belief in supporting our future workforce in attaining their career goals through post secondary education.
