Irene Hauth Nursing Award
Established by Ann and Bill Musgrave in 2023, the Irene Hauth Nursing Award supports students who have chosen to enter a career in nursing as Irene did.
As a mother of two young children and recently widowed in the early 1950’s, Irene was given an opportunity by the Saskatchewan government to return to school to further her public health career.
Swallowing her fears and digging deep from within, Irene accepted the opportunity; moved her two young children to Edmonton and returned to school.
Irene successfully completed her Public Health nursing education and returned with her children to Lloydminster. She later met and married her second husband and had four more children. During this time, she continued a successful public health nursing career with the Saskatchewan government until her retirement at the age of sixty five.
Irene received help to further her career when it was needed. She would be honored to know this award was established in her name to help others in need.
Irene passed away in Lloydminster on June 18, 2023, at the age of one hundred. As a public health nurse, mother, wife, grandmother, great grandmother, friend, and neighbor, Irene was a remarkable woman who touched many lives.
Her faith, quick wit, and sense of humor serve as loving memories for those who were blessed to have known her.
