Donna & Beat Schmid

The Dennis & Jean Bacon Memorial Award was established in 2025 by their daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Beat Schmid.
Dennis and Jean loved the farm lifestyle. Dennis was a passionate cattleman—Herefords were his top choice. Jean loved gardening, sewing, baking, and caring for all the farm animals. Together, they farmed for more than 40 years near Marwayne, Alberta, where the coffee was always on and their kitchen table hosted many neighborhood gatherings. Their passion for Lakeland stemmed from their granddaughter, Kayleigh, Class of 2011.

Through this award, we are proud to continue their legacy of compassion toward friends and kindness to animals.
